  • Apply through the official Australian ETA mobile app.
  • Generally allows visits of up to three months per entry.
  • No visa application charge; AUD $20 app service fee.

Information for Papua New Guinean passport holders

Visitors travelling on a PNG passport should check the Visitor visa (subclass 600) Business Visitor stream and the fee concession introduced for eligible Pacific Island and Timor-Leste citizens from 1 July 2026. This concession does not remove the requirement to obtain a visa.

Conference invitation and visa support letters

If supporting documentation is required for your visa application, contact the PNG Investment Week organising team to enquire about an official conference invitation or confirmation of registration. Please provide your full name as shown on your passport, organisation, registration reference and the type of letter you require.

The organising team can confirm whether a supporting letter is available and what registration or payment requirements apply. A conference letter does not guarantee a visa grant; all visa decisions are made by the Australian Government.

Documents to prepare

  • Passport details and planned travel dates.
  • Conference registration confirmation.
  • Employer or organisation letter, where relevant.
  • Evidence of funds, accommodation and onward travel if requested.

Before you apply

When should I apply?

Apply as soon as you know your travel plans and the correct visa category. ETA and eVisitor decisions can be quick but are not guaranteed; Visitor visa (600) applications may require additional documents or checks. View the official processing times guide and avoid making non-refundable arrangements until your visa is granted.

Health, character and biometric requirements

Applicants must meet relevant health and character requirements. Depending on your circumstances, Home Affairs may request a medical examination, police certificate or biometrics. Follow any instructions issued during your application. See character requirements and health requirements.

What activities can I undertake as a business visitor?

Eligible business visitor activities may include attending an unpaid conference, seminar or trade fair, general business enquiries and negotiations. Visitor visas are not work visas. Paid services, employment or other activities may require a different visa. Check your specific visa conditions on the Home Affairs website.

Travelling to and entering Australia

Travel with your valid passport and visa grant notice or equivalent confirmation. You must satisfy Australian border and immigration clearance requirements and comply with your visa conditions and permitted length of stay. For border requirements see the Australian Border Force guidance.

Travel insurance and sanctions

Visitors are generally responsible for their own healthcare costs and should consider appropriate travel and medical insurance. Anyone potentially affected by sanctions or additional entry restrictions should check the Australian Government sanctions guidance and seek qualified assistance where appropriate.
